...This antibody was determined to be the same as Landsteiner's anti-Rh, and the Rh factor began to attract attention in clinical medicine as a possible cause of transfusion side effects and fetal disorders. However, it was later discovered that the Rh factors corresponding to human Rh antibodies and those in the serum of monkey-immunized rabbits are different, although they have similar specificities, and the Rh factor shared with monkeys came to be called the LW antigen. In the 1940s and 1950s, there was a groundbreaking advance in antibody testing methods, and new blood types were discovered one after another, but many of these were discovered by chance, such as during blood transfusions or tests for pregnancy. ...
