Work School

In the narrow sense, it refers to education through physical activities such as gardening, but generally it refers to the education of the Arbeitsschule, a work school that arose mainly in Germany as part of the European "New Education" movement since the end of the 19th century. In opposition to the traditional Lernschule, which was based on intellectualistic and passive education, it practiced an education based on manual labor and that emphasized the spontaneous activity of students.
