A private railway company established in 1917. In 1943, it absorbed the Kan-Naka Railway. After the war, it focused on the gravel business for a time, but then expanded into various other businesses, with its railway business based in Kanagawa Prefecture as its mainstay. In 1950, it started real estate sales and bus services, in 1952 it started chartered bus services, and in 1953 it started selling petroleum products. Since 2003, it has promoted business restructuring. By 2005, it had spun off its real estate sales and real estate rental businesses and moved to a holding structure. In 2009, it spun off its railway business, and Sagami Railway changed its name to Sotetsu Holdings, and the successor company to the railway business was renamed Sagami Railway. In 2014, it acquired the Sunroute Hotel Chain as a subsidiary to strengthen its hotel business. Its lines are the Main Line and the Izumino Line.
