An enormous German dictionary started by the Brothers Grimm of Germany (1854-1960). It consists of 16 volumes and 32 books. During the brothers' lifetime, they only made it to the middle of F (Frucht), and their work was passed down to successive generations of scholars, but in 1909 it became the project of the Prussian Academy of Sciences. After World War II, the editorial offices of the two eastern and western divisions cooperated beyond political positions, and the dictionary was finally completed more than 120 years after it was first drafted (1838). This book is notable for its detailed retrospective analysis of changes in word form, meaning, and usage based on German words from the 16th century onwards.
