[Overview] Since construction machinery is related to national land development, its development is greatly influenced by the trends of public investment (foreign and flood control, road construction, etc.) and private construction investment. Japan's construction machinery production has continued to expand against the backdrop of an increase in construction and civil engineering works, such as high economic growth and expanded public investment to improve social capital, and it is now the second largest producer in the world after the United States. However, the speed of development since the high growth period has shown significant differences depending on the period. During the high growth period, the average growth rate from 1965 to 1970 was 31.4%, but from 1970 to 1975, it slowed to 7.6% per year due to the impact of the oil crisis, and further, from 1975 to 1978, it showed growth of 13.7% per year due to the policy of expanding public investment.
