Klabund - Club (English spelling)

German poet and novelist. His real name was Alfred Henschke. He published lyric poems and novels influenced by Expressionism, and developed light social satire in his cabaret (German cabaret) and chanson. His novel "The Malady" (1917), born out of his struggle with illness in Davos, depicted the decadent atmosphere of a sanatorium. He also demonstrated his talent in adapting and rewriting Oriental literature, which he learned about through English and French translations. One of his most successful works was "The Chalk Circle" (1924), which was modeled after a Chinese play.

ドイツの詩人、小説家。本名アルフレート・ヘンシュケ。表現主義の影響を受けた叙情詩や小説を発表し、カバレット（ドイツ風キャバレー）・シャンソンでは軽妙な社会風刺を展開。ダボスでの闘病生活から生まれた小説『病気』（1917）では療養地の退廃的雰囲気を描いた。また英仏語訳を通じて知った東洋文学の翻案・改作に手腕を発揮し、なかでも中国の劇に倣った『白墨の輪』（1924）が成功を収めた。
