Suruga Dance

One of the Gagaku Azuma Asobi . This dance is performed to the accompaniment of Suruga songs. It is based on the legend that a heavenly being descended to Udohama in Suruga Province and danced. It is performed by four or six dancers, and the singers are one beater, one flute player, one hichiriki player, one wagoto player, several tsukeuta players, and a koto bearer. 雅楽東遊(あずまあそび)の中の一つ。駿河歌に合わせて舞うもの。駿河国の有度浜(うどはま)に天人が下って舞ったという伝説によるもの。舞人は四人または六人、歌方は拍子一人、笛一人、篳篥(ひちりき)一人、和琴一人、付歌数人、琴持で演ぜられる。〔東遊（１０Ｃ後）〕
