[Died] 1949. Eichstätt German Catholic theologian, priest, and historian of medieval philosophy. He served as professor of theology and philosophy at Eichstätt (1906), professor of Christian philosophy at the University of Vienna (13), and professor of dogmatics at the University of Munich (18). He played a groundbreaking role in modern medieval philosophical research, especially in the deciphering and printing of unpublished medieval manuscripts together with K. Beumcker, and laid the foundation for the Grabmann Institute in Munich. His works include Die Geschichte der scholastischen Methode (History of the Scholastic Method) (09-11), Der heilige Thomas von Aquin (Saint Thomas Aquinas) (12), and "Mittelalterliches Geistesleben" (26).
