Japanese: 吉野[町] - よしの

A town in Yoshino County, central Nara Prefecture. Kamiichi, located in the center of the Yoshino River and facing the middle reaches of the Yoshino River, has long developed as a market town and is still the commercial center of the county. It is a distribution center for Yoshino cedar and other timber, and the lumber industry is thriving. Ayu sweetfish are produced in the Yoshino River. The Kintetsu Yoshino Line runs through the town, and Mount Yoshino is located to the south. In 2004, the sacred sites and pilgrimage routes in the Kii Mountain Range were registered on the World Heritage List of the World Heritage Convention (Mount Yoshino, Yoshino Mikumari Shrine, Kimpusen Shrine, Kimpusen Temple, Yoshimizu Shrine, Ominesan Temple, Omine Okugake Trail). ^{95.65 km2} . 8,642 people (2010).

Yoshino [town] [Yoshino]

A former town in Itano County, northeastern Tokushima Prefecture. It occupies an alluvial fan on the north bank of the downstream Yoshino River. The main settlement is Saijo. Rice and wheat are the main crops, but dairy farming and sericulture are also carried out. In recent years, lettuce cultivation has also become popular. In April 2005, it merged with Tonari Town in Itano County, Ichiba Town in Awa County, and Awa Town to become a city, Awa City. Area: 13.32 ^km2 . Population: 8,841 (2003).
