Roman Emperor. Reigned 268-270. He started as a private and became the cavalry commander under Emperor Gallienus, and after his assassination he became emperor. He had a good relationship with the Senate, but he put an end to the rebellions in Gaul, and in the East, he recognized the kingship of Zenobia of Palmyra, which led to her growing power. However, he advanced towards the Danube, defeated the Alamanni, and annihilated the Goths, turning them into mercenaries and colonies, earning him the title of "Gothicus (conqueror of the Goths)." He died of an illness in Sirmium. He was later revered as his ancestor by Constantine I.

ローマ皇帝。在位268‐270年。一兵卒からガリエヌス帝の騎兵隊司令官となり，同帝暗殺後帝位についた。元老院との関係は良好だったが，ガリアの反乱勢力に手をやき，東方ではパルミュラのゼノビアの王権を承認してその強大化を招いた。しかしドナウ方面に進出してアラマンニ族を討ち，さらにゴート人を壊滅させて傭兵やコロヌスとし，〈ゴート征圧者(ゴティクス)〉の称号を得た。シルミウムで病没。のちコンスタンティヌス1世によって父祖と仰がれた。
