Kubiki Oil and Gas Field - Kubiki Gas Field

Japanese: 頸城油･ガス田 - くびきゆガスでん

An oil and gas field in the northern part of the Kubiki Plain in western Niigata Prefecture. Discovered by Teikoku Oil in 1954, it produced 58kl of crude oil per day in 1996. The geological structure is a complex of a dome structure stretching from the coast to offshore and another dome structure inland to the south. The oil reservoir is sandstone and tuff in the Teradomari Formation of the Miocene Tertiary Period. The crude oil is trapped in lenticular sandstone on the wings of the dome structure that extends from the coast to offshore, and the natural gas is trapped both at the top of the dome structure and by faults on the wings.

新潟県西部の頸城平野北部にある油･ガス田。1954年帝国石油によって発見された。96年には日産58klの原油を生産している。地質構造は，海岸から沖合にまたがるドーム構造と，この南の内陸部にあるドーム構造との複合体である。油層は第三紀中新世の寺泊層中の砂岩および凝灰岩である。原油は海岸から沖合にひろがるドーム構造の翼部にあるレンズ状の砂岩にトラップされ，天然ガスは，ドーム構造の頂部にトラップされたものと，翼部で断層によってトラップされたものとがある。
