〘Noun〙① Tax rice collected in addition to the regular tax depending on the area of the rice field. ※Yamashina Kareiki - December 25, 1457, "The annual tax collected from Sukanoura (abbreviated) Three rice sacks (Tawara. Rice sacks are Uramatsudono's rice)"② A type of tax during the Edo period. Rice collected at a fixed rate depending on the amount of annual tax. It was provided to the magistrate's office as various expenses, but during the Kyoho era it was put into the treasury. ※Kinryo Ko - Zenshu, Volume 4, Volume 35, September 1725, "A letter from the magistrate's office announcing that rice sacks have been handed down for various needs"③ Rice taken from a straw bag as a sample. By extension, it can also be used to mean a sample. ※Comedy book, "Continuation of the Hizakurige " (1810-22), Volume 7: "Though I kept to myself, I walked from Mito-no-juku to Niekawa with the whip of my pen."

〘名〙① 田の面積に応じて、本租のほかに加徴した税米。※山科家礼記‐長祿元年（1457）一二月二五日「すかのうらより上候年貢〈略〉口米三〈たわら。口米は浦松殿ふん也〉」② 江戸時代の租税の一種。年貢高に応じて一定の比率で徴収する米。代官所に諸経費として支給されていたが、享保年間幕庫に収めることになった。※禁令考‐前集・第四・巻三五・享保一〇年（1725）九月「口米相止諸入用被下候に付御勘定奉行より御代官え申渡候書付」③ 見本として俵から抜き取られる米。転じて、見本の意にも用いられる。※滑稽本・続膝栗毛（1810‐22）七「おさだまりの口米(クチマイ)ながら、美登野宿から贄川まで、おったておったて筆の鞭」
