1902‐30 Leader of the Vietnam National Party and leader of the Yen Bai Uprising. Born in Binh Yen Province in northern Vietnam, he studied at the Nam Tong School in Hanoi (a private school centered on Sun Yat-sen ideology, founded in 1925 by Pham Tuan Thai and others), where he became interested in the national movement. He proposed to the then French Governor-General of Indochina, Varennes, to improve working conditions for Vietnamese workers, expand the education system, and publish a public relations magazine, but was rejected. As a result, he decided to pursue independence through force, and founded the Vietnam National Party in 1927, becoming its leader. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
