A marine fish of the Perciformes order, family Acanthidae (illustration). It is widely distributed in the western Pacific Ocean south of central Honshu and the Indian Ocean. It is commonly seen in southern Japan, where it is called akinme in Misaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, kintoki in Wakayama Prefecture, kintouji or kanehira in Kochi Prefecture, umanusutto in Fukuoka Prefecture, and sematsudai in Kagoshima Prefecture. It can reach a total length of 30 cm. Its body color is pale pink, with dark yellow spots on the dorsal, anal, and pelvic fins. Its body is laterally compressed and oblong. Its mouth is large and faces upwards. Its eyes are large.

スズキ目キントキダイ科の海産魚（イラスト）。本州中部以南の西部太平洋，インド洋に広く分布している。南日本ではふつうに見られ，神奈川県三崎でキンメ，和歌山県でキントキ，高知県でキントウジまたはカネヒラ，福岡県でウマヌスット，鹿児島県でセマツダイと呼ばれる。全長30cmに達する。体色は淡紅色で，背びれ，しりびれ，腹びれに暗黄色の斑点がある。体は側扁し，長楕円形をしている。口は大きく，上方を向いている。眼は大きい。
