A semi-deciduous small shrub of the Hypericaceae family. Native to China, it is cultivated in gardens. The stem is thin and highly branched. It can grow up to 1m in height. The leaves are opposite, sessile, ovate-oblong, entire, and thin. The underside is whitish-green, and when viewed through a diaphragm, sparse oil spots can be seen.
