[Died] November 23, 1976. Rome. Italian novelist. Though he began his writing career in middle age, some critics consider him to be at the forefront of 20th century Italian literature. His major works include Signorina Rosina (1959), Ravenna (62), La bicicletta (66), and Testamento (69).
