This is a commentary on the Samkhya Kalika (Gatha on Numbers, written by Ishvarakrishna), the basic textbook of the Samkhya school of Indian philosophy, one of the six schools of philosophy. It was translated into Chinese by Zhenji, who came to China in 546. Among the commentaries of this type known today, this work is relatively old and of a clear date, making it an important document. Among similar works, it is similar in content to the Matara Vritti. This book has been studied extensively in Japan since the mid-Edo period, with Gyo'o's (?-1785) Commentaries on the Seventy-Ninth Treatise on the Golden Treatise and Hoju's Commentary on the Seventy-Ninth Treatise on the Golden Treatise (1763) being among the more well-known works.
