The length from the flange of the objective lens to the top of the lens barrel that supports the eyepiece is called the mechanical tube length, and in Japan the JIS standard specifies it as 160 mm, but in other countries it varies depending on the manufacturer. The magnification of a microscope is the product of the magnification of the objective lens and the magnification of the eyepiece.
