Kingchi (English name) Pseudosciaena manchurica

Japanese: キングチ（英語表記）Pseudosciaena manchurica

A marine fish of the family Sciaenidae in the order Perciformes. Also called yellow croaker. Reaches 40cm in length. The body is orange-yellow with red lips and a deep golden granular gland-like organ under each scale below the lateral line. It is distributed from the Bohai Sea to the South China Sea, but there are said to be several schools with different spawning grounds and sea routes. Except for the spawning season from March to July, it lives on the seabed at depths of 40 to 100m. Those in the East China Sea spawn in various places along the continent and the west coast of the Korean Peninsula. During the spawning season, the body is shiny bright yellow and the apricot color of the lips and inside the mouth becomes darker.

スズキ目ニベ科の海産魚。キグチともいう。全長40cmに達する。体色は橙黄色で唇は赤く，側線より下方の各うろこの下に濃い黄金色の粒状の腺様の器官がある。渤海（ぼつかい）から南シナ海にかけて分布しているが，産卵場，海遊路などの異なるいくつかの群れがあるといわれる。3～7月の産卵期以外は水深40～100mの海底にすんでいる。東シナ海のものは大陸沿岸，朝鮮半島西岸各地で産卵する。産卵期には体色は光沢のある鮮黄色で，口唇･口腔内のアンズ色が濃くなる。
