King Kong

Japanese: キング･コング（英語表記）King Kong

American film. Produced in 1933. A classic monster movie. The producers of a film about wild animals go on location to an isolated island where a prehistoric world is said to still exist, and the lead actress is kidnapped by the giant gorilla King Kong. The actress is rescued by her lover, an engineer, who gives chase to the death, but Kong chases her and appears on the shore again, but is killed by a gas bomb and taken to Manhattan to be put on display. Kong tears off his chains and rampages through the city, kidnapping the actress and climbing to the top of the Empire State Building, but his strength gradually weakens as he is strafed by fighter planes, and he crashes, leaving the actress at the top.

アメリカ映画。1933年製作。モンスター映画の古典。猛獣映画の製作者が，有史前の世界が現存すると伝えられる孤島へ，現地ロケに乗りこみ，主演女優を巨大なゴリラのキング･コングにさらわれる。恋人の機関士の決死の追跡によって女優は救出され，彼女を追って再び海岸に現れたコングはガス弾に倒れ，マンハッタンへ運ばれて見世物となる。鎖を引きちぎって街へ暴れ出たコングは，女優をさらってエンパイア･ステート･ビルへ登りつめ，戦闘機の機銃掃射を浴びてしだいに力つき，女優を頂上に残して墜落する。
