MTF - MTF, MTF

Japanese: MTF -
MTF - MTF, MTF
This stands for modulation frequency or spatial frequency, and is measured and graphed using an MTF tester to determine the characteristics of a lens. This is called an MTF chart. In general, the higher the graph, the better the MTF characteristics. Also, it is better to have less variation due to differences in resolution. Lenses were originally displayed using resolution, but nowadays most lenses are displayed using MTF curves. This is largely due to the efforts of Carl Zeiss. Abbreviation for Modular Transfer Function.
