Order: Lacertidae, Family: Elapidae. The world's largest venomous snake, with a body length of over 6m. The hood-like area at the back of the head is not as large as that of other elapids. It is feared due to its size and deadly venom, but it rarely actively attacks humans. It makes a nest out of dead leaves and twigs, and lays 20-40 eggs. Both males and females stay in the nest to protect them. It is found in Southeast Asia, south of southern China, and South Asia, and mainly eats other snakes.
