〘 noun 〙 A tall tree. In botany, it refers to a tree with a woody, hard trunk that stands upright and is at least three meters tall. The branches do not grow out from the base, and the main trunk is clearly separated from the side branches. The leaves can be broad-leaved or needle-leaved, and either deciduous or evergreen.
