Farmers' pension

Japanese: 農業者年金

This system provides pensions and other benefits to farmers in their old age as the second tier of the National Pension, with the aim of ensuring a stable life for farmers in their old age and helping to secure the agricultural workforce.
There is a system in place that provides national subsidies (up to 10,000 yen) for insurance premiums to those who meet certain requirements, such as certified farmers. In addition, the system has the characteristic of adopting a stable funded method as its financial method, and the system is operated by the Agricultural Pension Fund, an independent administrative institution. 農業者の老後生活の安定等を図るとともに、農業者の確保に資することを目的として、国民年金の2階部分として農業者の老齢時に年金等を給付する制度。
認定農業者等の一定の要件を満たす担い手に対して保険料の国庫補助（最大1万円）を行う仕組みがある。また、財政方式として安定的な積立方式を採用しているという特性があり、独立行政法人農業者年金基金が制度の運用を行っている。（⇒認定農業者）
