A town in Shari District, eastern Hokkaido. To the east is Mount Sharidake and other mountainous areas, and to the north is the southern part of the Shari Plain, through which the Senmo Main Line passes. The town is primarily involved in field farming, mainly potatoes, sugar beets, and wheat, as well as dairy farming for milk production. Forestry is also practiced. Area: 402.76 km2 .
