〘 noun 〙 Under the ritsuryo system, state-owned slaves. They were administered by the Imperial Household Ministry's Kannushi , assigned to various government offices, and used for labor. The rule was that they became kanko when they reached the age of 66, and were pardoned and made good citizens when they reached the age of 76. Kunuhi (public slave) . ⇔ Shinuhi (private slave). 〘名〙 令制で、国有の奴隷。宮内省の官奴司(かんぬし)が管轄し、諸官司に配属させ、労役に駆使された。六六歳以上になれば官戸(かんこ)とし、七六歳以上になれば許して良民とする規定であった。公奴婢(くぬひ)。⇔私奴婢(しぬひ)。〔令義解（718）〕
