Power supply - Kyuden

It refers to the comprehensive management of each facility from generation to distribution with the aim of supplying high-quality, low-cost electricity to consumers. For example, consumers of electricity include general household lighting loads, commercial loads such as buildings, and power loads such as factories. Each uses the amount of electricity they need when they need it, so the overall demand fluctuates greatly. Naturally, electricity cannot be stored. Therefore, power plants must generate electricity in response to the consumption of electricity. There are nuclear power plants, thermal power plants, hydroelectric power plants, and other power plants, and each has different characteristics, so it is necessary to consider "how much electricity should be generated by which generator." In this way, adjusting the generated power of generators in response to the load power of consumers is called supply and demand adjustment, or frequency adjustment, and is the most important task of power supply. Other tasks include voltage adjustment (ensuring a constant voltage at all times), tidal current adjustment (ensuring a smooth flow of electricity), adjustment of the use and suspension of power equipment such as transmission lines and transformers, and restoration operations in the event of a system accident. Because power supply operations are extremely complex and diverse, they are managed comprehensively through a central load supply control center, which transmits commands to system load supply control centers and local load supply centers.

These operations are carried out using an automated system that utilizes computers.

良質・低廉な電力を需要家に供給する目的で、発電から配電に至るまでの各設備を総合運営することをいう。たとえば、電力の需要家には一般家庭用の電灯負荷、ビルディングなどの業務用負荷、工場などの電力用負荷などがあり、それぞれ必要なときに必要な量の電力を使用するので、全体の需要量は大きく変動することとなる。当然のことながら、電気は貯蔵することができない。したがって、発電所では電力の消費に追従して電力を発生しなければならない。この発電所にも、原子力発電所、火力発電所、水力発電所などがあり、それぞれ特性が異なるので「どの発電機にどの程度の電気を発生させるべきか」を考慮する必要がある。このように、需要家の負荷電力に対応して発電機の発生電力を調整することを需給調整、または周波数調整といい、給電のもっとも主要な業務となっている。このほか、電圧調整(いつも電圧が一定になるようにすること)、潮流調整(電力の流れが円滑になるようにすること)、送電線や変圧器などの電力機器の使用・停止時の調整、系統事故時の復旧操作などがある。給電業務はきわめて複雑多岐にわたるので、中央給電指令所を中心に、系統給電指令所、地方給電所に指令が伝達され総合運営されている。

 なお、これらの業務は、コンピュータを活用した自動化システムを用いて行われている。
