The name of the Kyushu Railway Company's track that runs through central Oita Prefecture and southern Fukuoka Prefecture. 141.5 km from Kurume to Oita, single track, non-electrified. One of the Kyushu Transcontinental Railways, it runs along the Chikugo River, its upstream Kusu River, and the Oita River, with cities such as Hita in between. The Oita-Onoya section is the oldest, opened in 1915 (Taisho 4) as the Oyu Railway, and nationalized in 1922 (completed in 1923 with a gauge changed from 762 mm to 1067 mm). From 1923 to 1933 (Taisho 12 to Showa 8), the Onoya-Amagase section was opened under the name of the Oyu Line, and from 1928 to 1934, the Kurume-Amagase section was opened under the name of the Kyudai Line, and was integrated into the Kyudai Line after completion. In 1937, it became the Kyudai Main Line. In 1987, with the privatization of the Japanese National Railways, it became part of the Kyushu Railway Company. Nicknamed the Yufu Highland Line.

大分県中部および福岡県南部を走る九州旅客鉄道の線路名称。久留米(くるめ)―大分間141.5キロメートル、全線単線、非電化。九州横断鉄道の一つで、筑後(ちくご)川とその上流玖珠(くす)川、および大分川の流域を走り、中間に日田(ひた)などの都市がある。大分―小野屋(おのや)間がもっとも古く、大湯(だいとう)鉄道として1915年(大正4)開業、1922年国有化された(1923年軌間762ミリメートルより1067ミリメートルに変更完成)。1923~1933年(大正12~昭和8)小野屋―天ヶ瀬(あまがせ)間を大湯線の名称で、1928~1934年久留米―天ヶ瀬間を久大線の名称で開業、全通後久大線に統合された。1937年久大本線となった。1987年、日本国有鉄道の分割民営化で、九州旅客鉄道に所属。愛称、ゆふ高原線。
