The capital of Maryland, USA. It is located on the banks of the Severn River, 3 km from the mouth of Chesapeake Bay. It was settled in the mid-17th century. The city was named after Queen Anne of England. It escaped the destruction of the Revolutionary War. It is also known as the place where the peace treaty with Britain was ratified by the Continental Congress in 1784. It is famous as the location of the Naval Academy. Many buildings from the colonial era remain. It has a large catch of crabs and oysters, and agricultural products are also traded. There are also manufacturing plants for plastics and equipment.
