The capital of Maryland, USA. It is located on the banks of the Severn River, 3 km from the mouth of Chesapeake Bay. It was settled in the mid-17th century. The city was named after Queen Anne of England. It escaped the destruction of the Revolutionary War. It is also known as the place where the peace treaty with Britain was ratified by the Continental Congress in 1784. It is famous as the location of the Naval Academy. Many buildings from the colonial era remain. It has a large catch of crabs and oysters, and agricultural products are also traded. There are also manufacturing plants for plastics and equipment. It is home to the Johns Hopkins University Marine Laboratory. Population 33,187 (1990).

A city in the southeast of Goiás state, central Brazil. It is located on the central plateau at an altitude of 970m, sandwiched between the state capital Goiánia and the national capital Brasilia. It is the commercial center of the state, distributing beef cattle, meat, coffee, rubber, corn, wheat, and minerals (quartz, nickel, gold, diamonds) produced in the state. It is connected to São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro by rail and road, and to Brasilia by road, and in addition to shipping to these large cities, it serves as a supply base for settlements expanding westward. Population: 239,047 (1991 estimate).
