Japanese: 基本星表 - きほんせいひょう

A star catalogue that defines the fundamental coordinate system for describing the positions and movements of celestial bodies on the celestial sphere. It lists the precise positions, proper motions, and precession constants of fundamental stars that serve as the fundamental positions on the celestial sphere. The official fundamental star catalogue that is adopted internationally contains 1,535 stars with a long history of precise observation up to about magnitude 7.5, scattered at a rate of about 1 star per 5° square. The Fourth Fundamental Catalogue. This is abbreviated as FK4 and is also called the FK star catalogue.
