Sea level change

Japanese: 海水面変化 - かいすいめんへんか（英語表記）sea level change

Also called sea level change, it refers to the phenomenon of the sea level rising and falling, but generally speaking, excluding tides, seasonal spring tides, high tides during typhoons, and tsunamis caused by undersea earthquakes, it refers to the change in sea level on a global scale throughout geological time, and is also called eustatic movement or eustasy. Changes in sea level are caused by changes in the volume of seawater, changes in the size of the ocean basins that serve as containers for seawater, and the uplift and subsidence of land, but because these are intricately related, it is difficult to determine a single cause.

海水準変動ともいい，海水面が昇降する現象をいうが，一般的には，潮汐の干満や季節的な大潮，台風時の高潮，海底地震で生じる津波などを除外し，地質時代を通して汎地球的な規模で，海水面が変化することをさし，ユースタチック運動eustatic movementともユースタシーeustasyともいう。　海水面の変化は，海水量の変化，あるいは海水の容器にあたる海盆の大きさの変化や陸地の隆起，沈降によって生じるが，これらは複雑に関係しているので，いちがいに要因を決めることは困難である。
