...Of the remaining 30 cho within the Kitago area, the Usa Mirokuji estate was also established by the end of the Heian period, and was also called Hikisho, with the main lord, a man of the Oe family name with Hiki as his surname, remaining as his subordinate. However, after Koremune (Shimazu) Tadahisa was appointed as the head jito of the huge Shimazu estate, which spanned the three provinces of Satsuma, Osumi, and Hyuga, in 1186, his clan, the Isaku clan, reigned as jito of Hikisho within the Shimazu estate, and repeatedly fought against the existing lord of the estate (the head of the main family, the regent of Kofukuji Ichijo-in) and the main lord as subordinate, steadily expanding their local control through the establishment of a peace settlement and the division of the land into the lower domain by the beginning of the 14th century. They also exerted similar pressure on the neighboring Hioki Manor on the Mirokuji territory through the head lord who had become a vassal, and eventually, after the Northern and Southern Courts, both manors came under the total control of the main Shimazu family, and although the manor name remained, its substance as a manor disappeared.

…また残る日置郷内のうち北郷内30町は同じく平安時代末までに宇佐弥勒寺領荘園として立券され，これも同じく日置荘と呼ばれ，日置を名字とする大江姓の本領主が下司として存続した。しかし，1186年惟宗（これむね）(島津)忠久が鎌倉幕府から薩摩･大隅･日向3国にまたがる巨大荘園島津荘の惣地頭に任じられて以後，その一族の伊作氏が，島津荘内日置荘に地頭として君臨し，在来の荘園領主(本家摂関家の下に立つ領家興福寺一乗院)や下司たる本領主らと抗争をくりかえし，14世紀初頭までに和与･下地中分を通し着実に現地支配権を拡大した。また，隣接する弥勒寺領日置荘にも，御家人となった本領主を介して同様の圧迫を加え，やがて南北朝以降には両荘ともに島津本宗家の全面的な支配の下におかれ，名称として荘名は残るものの荘園としての実体は消滅した。…
