A series of peasant uprisings that occurred in the upper Rhine region in the late Middle Ages. It was the forerunner of the German Peasants' War. A Bundschuh is a peasant's shoe with long leather straps, which later became the flag of the uprising. This flag was first used by local peasants as a symbol of homeland defense when the French Armagnac army invaded the Alsace region in 1439 and 1444. It became the flag of the anti-feudal struggle during the Schlettstadt Putsch in Alsace in March 1493.

中世末期ライン川上流地域におこった一連の農民一揆の企て。ドイツ農民戦争の先駆をなす。ブントシューとは，長い革紐のついた農民靴のことで，転じて一揆の旗印となった。この旗印の最初は，1439,44年フランスのアルマニャック党の軍隊がエルザス(アルザス)地方に侵入したとき，在地農民が郷土防衛の象徴として掲げたのに始まる。　これが反封建闘争の旗印となるのは，93年3月エルザスのシュレットシュタット一揆のときである。
