[Born] Around 1036 [Died] 1097. Palermo English clergyman. Earl of Kent. Half-brother of William the Conqueror, he became Bishop of Bayeux at a young age. In 1082, he was imprisoned for moving his army without permission and for allegedly trying to seize the papacy. He later became a right-hand man to the Duke of Normandy, launched the First Crusade, and died in Palermo during the campaign.
