...Many humanists emerged from among them. Representatives of this group include Giannozzo Manetti (1396-1459), LB Alberti, and Matteo Palmieri (1406-75). Their activities led to the study of humanitas replacing the former studia divinitatis as the basis of a new spirit of the times, which resonated not only in Florence but throughout Italy, realizing the flourishing era of Renaissance culture.
