Orbital platform - Kidou platform (English spelling) space platform

Japanese: 軌道プラットホーム - きどうプラットホーム（英語表記）space platform

A large, multi-purpose satellite in orbit around the Earth. A wide variety of devices are launched into space and attached to a central structure (main body), with the aim of reducing costs and operating for a longer period of time by integrating functions such as power supply, attitude control, data processing, and communications. Various concepts are currently being proposed in preparation for the regular operation of the Space Shuttle, and in order to flexibly respond to a variety of purposes, consideration must be given to the independence of each device while integrating common parts.

地球を周回する軌道上の多目的大型衛星。宇宙空間に打ち上げられる多種多様な装置を中心構造体(本体)に取り付け，電力供給，姿勢制御，データ処理，通信などの機能の統合を行うことにより，費用の低減と，より長期間の運用を目指したものである。スペースシャトルの定常的運航を控えて現在いろいろな概念が提案されている段階で，多様な目的に柔軟に対応するためには共通部分の統合と同時に各装置の独立性も配慮されねばならない。
