Born on January 5, 1912. Established the Oba Lighting Laboratory in 1940, and was in charge of stage lighting at the Kabukiza and Shinbashi Enbujo Theater. After the war, he trained on Broadway in New York, and after returning to Japan, established an experimental studio. His representative works include "Fiddler on the Roof" and "My Fair Lady." Served as president of the Japan Lighting Designers Association. Died on January 15, 1998. Age 86. Born in Tokyo. Graduated from Yasuda Gakuen Technical College.
