Kitsuki

A district of Izumo City in the central north of Shimane Prefecture. Formerly Kitsuki Town. It has flourished as a temple town and market town for Izumo Taisha since ancient times. Before the Meiji period, Izumo Taisha was called Kitsuki Taisha. National Route 431 and the Ichibata Electric Railway Taisha Line run through the area.

島根県中北部、出雲(いずも)市の一地区。旧杵築町。古くから出雲大社の門前町、また市場町として栄えてきた。明治以前は、出雲大社は杵築大社といわれていた。国道431号、一畑(いちばた)電車大社線が通じる。
