A district of Izumo City in the central north of Shimane Prefecture. Formerly Kitsuki Town. It has flourished as a temple town and market town for Izumo Taisha since ancient times. Before the Meiji period, Izumo Taisha was called Kitsuki Taisha. National Route 431 and the Ichibata Electric Railway Taisha Line run through the area.
