neurohypophysis

…the adenohypophysis is a gland that is made up of the neurohypophysis and the adenohypophysis. The adenohypophysis is an ectodermal process of the palatine epithelium of the posterior pharynx, i.e., Rathke's pouch. In mammals, the adenohypophysis consists of the main lobe (also called the anterior lobe in mammals), the middle lobe (middle part), and the lobe superior (prominent part).
