Yoshihiko Kurimoto

Japanese: 栗本義彦 - くりもとよしひこ

1897-1974 A physical education instructor from the Taisho to Showa eras.
Born on July 18, 1897. While studying at Tokyo Higher Normal School, he was an active marathon runner. After working as an assistant professor at Fifth Higher School and a sports director for Kumamoto Prefecture, he became an administrative officer in the Ministry of Health and Welfare's Physical Fitness Bureau in 1939. In 1946, he became the promotion section chief of the Ministry of Education's Sports Bureau. He served as president of Nippon Sport Science University and president of the Japan Gymnastics Association. He passed away on August 23, 1974, at the age of 77. He was born in Wakayama Prefecture. His works include "An Introduction to Physical Education as Culture."

明治30年7月18日生まれ。東京高師在学中はマラソン選手として活躍。五高助教授,熊本県体育主事などをへて昭和14年厚生省体力局事務官となる。21年文部省体育局振興課長。日本体育大学長,日本体操協会会長などをつとめた。昭和49年8月23日死去。77歳。和歌山県出身。著作に「教養としての体育概論」など。
