The name given to the early 19th century British Romantic poets Wordsworth, Coleridge and Southey. They lived in the scenic Lake District, an area of Cumbria in northwest England blessed with lakes and mountains, and indulged in poetry in a friendly relationship. The central figure was Wordsworth, who lived around Lake Grasmere and continued to sing of the nature of the area throughout his life, and with his co-authored work with Coleridge, "Lyric Songs" (1798), he played a part in the Romantic revival that occurred throughout Europe. All three poets had different styles, so it is difficult to call them the same school of poets.
