Kushida Shin Ruins

Japanese:
Kushida Shin Ruins
<br /> The remains of a Jomon period settlement in Kushidashin, Imizu City, Toyama Prefecture. It is located on an isolated hill commonly known as Osawayama, on the eastern edge of the Tonami Plain. This site was excavated in 1949 (Showa 24), and a major group of pottery from among the artifacts excavated at that time was selected as a type of pottery from the latter part of the middle Jomon period in the Hokuriku region, and was designated as a type called "Kushidashinshiki". Subsequently, excavations were carried out in 1971 (Showa 46) and the following year, and as a result, the remains of pit dwellings and stone hearths were discovered, and it became clear that this was the remains of a large-scale settlement mainly from the latter part of the middle Jomon period, so it was designated as a national historic site in 1976 (Showa 51). There are two circular burial mounds within the designated area, and at one end of the hill sits Kushida Shrine, a shrine listed in the Shikinai (Japanese Imperial Statue of Liberal Democratic Party of Japan), making it an important site for studying the Jomon period in the Hokuriku region. About 20 minutes by car from Takaoka Station on the JR Hokuriku Main Line and other lines.
