Born May 21, 1842. Born in Edo. In 1858, he studied under Yamada-ryu koto performer Yamataki Matsucho Kengyo. After passing under Yamataki Matsucho II, he changed his name to Kushida Eisei around 1891. He was skilled in shamisen and collaborated with Yamato Manwa on the piece "Shinyuu."
