Wando - Kanto

An island located on the southern coast of Jeollanam-do, South Korea. It has an area of ​​62.6 square kilometers and a population of 33,782 (1980). It is part of an archipelago. Rice, wheat, and sweet potatoes are the main crops, and the waters around the island are rich in sea bream and anchovies, and seaweed and wakame seaweed farming is also popular. Seaweed cultivation is the main economic base of the main island. It is connected to the Hainan Peninsula by a bridge. During the Silla period, it was called Cheonghaejin, and was the base of trade between the three countries of Tang, Silla, and Japan, known as Gongbok (Chang Bogo in China and Chang Baoshang in Japan).
