A dam located in the upper reaches of the Watarase River in eastern Gunma Prefecture. It is a concrete gravity dam (→ gravity dam), 140m high, 405m long, and has a storage capacity of about 50 million m3 . It was completed in 1977 by the Water Resources Development Public Corporation as part of the Tone River Comprehensive Development Project. It is used for flood control, irrigation water, urban water, and power generation (maximum output of about 60,000 kW). 群馬県東部,渡良瀬川上流にあるダム。重力式コンクリートダム (→重力ダム ) で,高さ 140m,長さ 405m,有効貯水量約 5000万m3。利根川総合開発事業の一環として,1977年水資源開発公団により完成した。洪水調節,灌漑用水,都市用水,発電 (最大出力約6万 kW) などに利用されている。
