A chronology of Bunraku puppet theater performances. It consists of seven volumes covering the early modern period and one each for the Meiji and Taisho periods. The early modern period volume was written by Sukeda Yoshio and compiled by the Gidayu Chronology Early Modern Period Publishing Committee. The Meiji period volume was compiled by the Gidayu Chronology Compilation Committee, and the Taisho period volume was compiled by the Bunraku Association. It is currently the most detailed and reliable chronology of Bunraku puppet theater performances, and is highly valuable as a basic reference for research. It provides a comprehensive listing of the dates, theaters, programs, and performers of puppet theater performances based on Gidayu from the Edo period to the present day, based on reliable records such as rankings and original manuscripts.
