Kishichosen

An ancient Korean dynasty. Together with Wiman Joseon, it is called Gojoseon. Around 1100 BC, when King Mu of Zhou in China destroyed King Chu of Yin, King Chu's relative, Jizi, fled to Korea, where King Mu is said to have given Jizi a fief. This marked the beginning of Jizi Joseon, and in the 2nd century BC, the last king, Jijun, was destroyed by the Yan refugee Wiman. Jizi's coming to the east is largely legendary, and difficult to accept as historical fact. Jizi Joseon has been described in Chinese history books since the "Book of Han," and in particular in the "Wei Lue" (Wei Lue) where there is a detailed description. In Korea, too, as the Goryeo and Yi dynasties progressed, the content of the story was gradually embellished with the rise of Confucianism and admiration for the Buddha. What is accepted as historical fact is that the Han people advanced eastward during the Warring States period in China, then flowed into northwestern Korea, and eventually came to dominate the indigenous people in the lower reaches of the Taedong River and surrounding areas. There is also a theory that denies the existence of a dynasty of this nature, and sees the main power of Gija Joseon as a clan of indigenous Korean society.

古代朝鮮の王朝。衛氏(えいし)朝鮮とあわせ古朝鮮という。紀元前1100年ごろ、中国、周の武王が殷(いん)の紂王(ちゅうおう)を滅ぼしたとき、紂王の親族である箕子は朝鮮に走ったが、武王は箕子をその地に封じたと伝えられる。これより箕子朝鮮が始まり、前2世紀に燕(えん)の亡命者衛満によって最後の王箕準(きじゅん)が滅ぼされた。箕子の東来については伝説的色彩が強く、史実とは認めがたい。箕子朝鮮については『漢書(かんじょ)』以後中国の歴史書に記述があり、とくに『魏略(ぎりゃく)』に詳細な記述がある。また、朝鮮においても、高麗(こうらい)、李(り)朝と時代が下るにつれて、その内容は慕華(ぼか)、崇儒思想の高揚とともにしだいに潤色が加えられていった。史実として認められる点は、中国の戦国時代より漢族が東方に進出し、さらに朝鮮北西部に流入して、やがて大同江下流域を中心に周辺の土着民を支配するに至ったことであろう。なお、このような性格の王朝そのものの実在性を否定し、箕子朝鮮の主体勢力を朝鮮の土着社会の氏族とみる説もある。
