Tolteca

...The pottery types that serve as indicators of this are the Coyotlatelic pottery that spread across the central Mexican plateau, the western region, and Oaxaca, and the Tepeu pottery of the Maya region. The word Tolteca means "excellent craftsman" or "wise man," and it is easier to understand the Tolteca as the leadership class in various parts of Mesoamerica that carried the culture of this period, rather than referring to a specific tribe. In this sense, the Toltecas gathered in the central Mexican plateau from all over the country during the decline of Teotihuacan, and created a power to replace Teotihuacan.
