The term "galactic center" refers to the rotation of the Milky Way galaxy around its core. The time it takes to complete one revolution around the galactic center is shorter the closer to the center. Stars near the sun rotate at a speed of about 250 kilometers per second, and complete one revolution in about 200 million years.
