Kuzuu [town] - Kuzuu

Japanese: 葛生[町] - くずう

This is an old town in Aso County, located in the southwest of Tochigi Prefecture, in the Akiyama River basin, a tributary of the Watarase River. The city center is the terminus of the Tobu Sano Line. There is a limestone layer (Nabeyama Formation), and limestone and dolomite are mined here. In 1950, fossil bones (of the Kuzu man) were discovered in the layer. There are many large cement and dolomite factories. In February 2005, it was incorporated into Tanuma Town, Aso County, and Sano City. 91.66 ^km2 . Population: 12,568 (2003).

栃木県南西部，渡良瀬(わたらせ)川の支流秋山川の流域を占める安蘇(あそ)郡の旧町。中心市街は東武佐野線の終点。石灰岩層（鍋山層）があり，石灰石，ドロマイトが採掘される。1950年，層中から化石骨（葛生人）が発見された。大規模なセメント工場，ドロマイト工場が多い。2005年２月安蘇郡田沼町と佐野市へ編入。91.66km²。１万2568人（2003）。
